On Thursday, Azhar Ali, Labour's parliamentary candidate for Pendle, congratulated students, their families and staff at Nelson on Colne College on A-level results day.
2019 has been a tough year for A-level students, with a drop in the proportion of A-levels given top grades - the lowest number since 2007.
Azhar said, "I'd like to personally congratulate everyone for their hard-earned results. I wish you all the very best for whatever your future brings. Don't worry if you didn't quite get the results you wanted, there's still lots of choices; go through clearing, consider taking a gap year working abroad, chat with the college's career advisors. It's a testament to the hard work and expertise of the staff at Nelson & Colne College that they have a pass rate of 99% (93% of students achieving at least one A*- C grade). Something they can all be proud of!"
Below are some of Pendle's hard-working A-level students and parents. Well done Ishmaeel Iqbal, who obtained 3A's and is going to study Natural Sciences at Durham, and Annie, who obtianed an A*, A and B and is going on to study Neuroscience at Leeds.
